Embercombe

Embercombe is a charity and social enterprise in Devon, focusing on inspiration, the environment and corporate and personal transformation.  They required a professional but friendly website with modern features and the capability to keep up with their rapidly developing programmes.  I took the existing content from a simple html site and integrated with a Joomla Content Management System, writing a CMS template that captured the old feel but integrated much more powerful features.  I worked with them to developing a new structure and layout that would best serve their needs.  The new site is widely praised and is universally considered a success.  Because I work with open source platforms, this was achieved at a fraction of the cost of a comparable, fully custom-built websites without compromising on features.

I continue to serve as Embercombe's in-house designer and IT professional.

The Potting Shed

The Potting Shed is a flourishing teaching and practise workshop for experimental clay and glass work in Devon run by Richenda Macgregor.

Richenda approached me with all images and website structure assembled and ready to go.  It was therefore a simple job for me to build the basic HTML site and remaster the images to look at their best online.  It was a quick project and I continue to maintain and update this site as the owner requires.

Heal Your Heart

Heal Your Heart is the website for Totnes and Exeter based Juliane Pecht, healer and card reader.  Juliane was just starting to market her services and wanted a simple but powerful website.  The design we ended up with blended images from istock with her own images of her work.  Simply working from a broad brief and a background image and colour-scheme, I was able to produce a website which has already drawn a lot of attention.  I continue to work with Juliane to increase her web profile and to produce leaflets and other printed material.

Michael H Brown

This website is built using Wordpress, using that platform's impressive flexibility to create a professional design quickly and easily.  I didn't build this website.  It was built by Michael H Brown, a personal coach based in Devon.  In a series of meetings I trained him in the theory and implementation of Wordpress and took him from being totally unschooled in website creation to being confident enough to build and maintain his own site.  Michael is very happy with the result, as well as his new-found knowledge.
